Dubai a city on the verge

Posted in Working Abroad

At the beginning of the year Dubai featured in the news because of the grand resorts that were been built with some never seen before feats of architecture and design, however flash-forward 10 months and Dubai is in the news again, this time because of the financial turmoil the government run company Dubai World is in and the fact that it is nearing bankruptcy.

But it is not all doom and gloom out there after a $10 billion bailout from neighbouring Abu Dhabi seems to have helped rescue the company. Developments that were set to be scrapped like the ‘The World’ are now to be resumed and new buyers are been sort to help out other developments.

However even with the construction and also hospitality industries looking a little shaky there are still plenty of jobs in other sectors with thousands of vacancies in accountancy, teaching, secretarial, banking and legal, so Dubai should not be wrote off yet in your job search

The Gulf Job Market

Posted in Working Abroad

There are several regions in the Gulf to search for jobs, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Many of these once war torn countries are fighting their way back and many people are now looking here for jobs not only in construction, which has been popular in the United Arab Emirates especially since the growth of Dubai but most professions.

Many online recruitment agencies are offering positions in every sector like Finance and Insurance to Fashion and modelling, with most countries now emerging from recession many governments are trying to build on what they have and rely a lot on workers from other countries to help them.

As with most jobs some experience is needed in the sector you want to work in however you need to bear in mind that unlike the UK many companies out there don’t offer the same sort of free training you get over here.
